The latest CNN/ORC poll is out. And here, via the first three paragraphs of CNN poll director Jennifer Agiesta\’s analysis, is what it has to say about Hillary Clinton:
While Clinton remains strikingly dominant in the Democratic field, the poll shows that her numbers have dropped significantly across several key indicators since she launched her campaign in April.
A growing number of people say she is not honest and trustworthy (57%, up from 49% in March), less than half feel she cares about people like them (47%, down from 53% last July) and more now feel she does not inspire confidence (50%, up from 42% last March).
One other piece of information for you, which Ms. Agiesta (inexplicably) did not include at the beginning of her write-up: Hillary Clinton\’s favorable/unfavorable ratings have gone from 59%/38% in November (a +21% difference), to 53%/44% in March (+9%), to 46%/50% now (a negative disparity of -4%).
That is the polling equivalent of falling through a trap door.
And as bad as what you just read is, in reality it is even worse. Why? Because all interviewing for the current data took place from May 29 to 31 – just after Bernie Sanders declared, and during the period Martin O\’Malley did – so neither alternative candidate had any impact on where she currently stands.
Do you think things are going to get better for Ms. Clinton with Sanders and O\’Malley both attacking her from the left…which is where she absolutely must draw support from to win Democrat primaries? I would hope not.
Hillary Clinton inevitable? Believe me, she\’s evitable.
