As you know, New York City Mayor bill de blasio skipped out on commiserating with the family of murdered Police Officer Miosotis Familia, and the swearing-in of 524 new police recruits, to jaunt off to Hamburg and be the keynote speaker before one of the “protest” groups there.
I thought you might be interested in what kind of folks he preferred to be with. So please take a look at this, pulled from Jon Lockett’s article in London’s Daily Sun:
ACTIVISTS clashed violently with riot cops in Germany setting cars ablaze, looting shops, throwing petrol bombs and trying to gatecrash the convention centre hosting the G20 talks.
Hundreds of extra police were drafted in to the streets of Hamburg in a bid to keep the increasingly violent protests by anti-globalisation rioters under control.
Lovely folks, Mr. Mayor. So glad you were able to spend time with them instead of the grieving Familia family or the new police recruits.
Maybe you should have taken some of those recruits over to Hamburg with you, and put them out on the front lines with their German counterparts. You know, give them a taste of what you seem so much more comfortable with.
Let me finish with a reminder to readers, that bill de blasio was elected by a landslide four years ago, and is poised to win by another one this November….which, if it happens, proves that New Yorkers are second to no one when it comes to self-destructive behavior.
