Now that most of our mainstream media have moved on to other things – you know, more important things, like whether Taylor Swift is getting married this week – I thought you might be interested to know the latest statistics from the two massively destructive earthquakes that hit Venezuela last week.
A week after the deadly twin earthquakes in Venezuela, the official death count still strikes both Venezuelans and outside observers as remarkably low. Venezuelan authorities said Wednesday at least 2,295 people were killed in the earthquakes, an increase of around 300 from the previous day’s update.
Almost 2,300 dead that they know of so far. And, if this article accurately describes the general sentiment, most people expect that number will rise much higher.
I guess that’s just not important enough for most of our media to follow up on. I thank CNN for being one of the few who are doing so.
