THE TRUE VALUE OF MICHAEL BROWN

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has declared a state of emergency and called up the National Guard.

Why?  Because any day – maybe even today – the grand jury will tell us whether Officer Darren Wilson is or is not going to be indicted for the shooting/killing of Michael Brown, and it is clearly expected that no such indictment will be handed down.  If that is what happens, Governor Nixon expects all hell to break loose.

He\’s right.

The protesters – a great many of whom appear to have agendas unrelated to Michael Brown himself – are a frustrated lot.   For the past month or so, media have largely moved on from the Brown shooting, so there has been precious little opportunity to exploit Brown\’s death for the publicity value they could derive from it – publicity value – and an opportunity to riot and loot – being all Brown ever represented to a good many of these people.

But a finding that there is no basis to indict Wilson?  All the cameras and all the “journalists” are right back there again.  It\’s showtime.

Personally, I would point out that there is no iron-clad guarantee of which way this will go.  Grand juries surprise us every now and again – and knowing the likely fallout from Wilson being exonerated, conceivably could intimidate a grand jury into doing something the facts do not lead to.

But if I were betting, my money would be heavily on the exoneration.

So get ready. The opportunists and race hustlers are gearing up for their grand finale.

And it is guaranteed to be ugly.
