Today’s quote comes to us from South Bend, Indiana Mayor and presidential aspirant, Peter Buttiegieg. It concerns ObamaCare – otherwise known, correctly, as socialized health care:
“The affordable care act was a conservative idea that Democrats borrowed and called that socialist so it’s like the boy who cried wolf. It’s lost all power,especially for my generation of voters.”
ObamaCare is a conservative idea? Yeah, ok. Sure.
The “basis”, if you can call it that, is a 30 year old proposal by the Heritage Foundation’s Stuart M. Butler, which has some of the elements of ObamaCare.
The fact Dr. Butler’s proposal kept private insurance companies in place, rejected the idea of low-risk people subsidizing insurance for high-risk people, and pointedly noted that Canadian health care – often used to “prove” ObamaCare takes us in the right direction – was starting to fall apart? I guess Mayor Buttiegieg somehow missed those parts.
The sad reality is that there are going to be many people who will actually believe this, er, “stuff” because “Mayor Pete” (as his flaks want you to think of him) is pumping it out.
Wow. “Big Brother” Peter Buttiegieg. Coming at you like a ghost from Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four”.
“War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. And socialized medicine is conservativism.”
But what can you do? Things are as they are, and people will believe what they believe.
Maybe we should rename him “Mayor Oh, For Pete’s Sake”.
