BORDER THREATS – A POLITICAL HENNY YOUNGMAN JOKE

So this guy goes to the doctor.

The doctor give him six months to live.

The guy says he can’t pay.

So the doctor gives him another six months.

Henny Youngman always got a laugh with that joke.  And he should have, because it was funny.

But border security is no laughing matter.  And with two statements, just a week apart, President Trump has turned border security into the same joke.

-President Trump, last week, speaking about Mexico’s responsibility for illegals crossing the border:

“Mexico is tough. They can stop them. But they chose not to.  Now they got to stop them. If they don’t stop them, we’re closing the border. We’ll close it and we’ll keep it closed for a long time, I’m not playing games.”

-President Trump, this week, speaking about Mexico’s responsibility for illegals crossing the border:

“We’re going to give them a one-year warning, and if the drugs don’t stop or largely stop, we’re going to put tariffs on Mexico and products, particularly cars.  And if that doesn’t stop the drugs, we close the border.”

Mr. President:  If you say it, mean it.  If you don’t mean it, don’t say it.  If you say both, you’re not talking seriously, you’re providing a laugh line.

Is that really what you want to do?

Maybe, since this is just the latest example of your propensity for bloviating and then backtracking, it’s time to eliminate the bloviating part.  Then you won’t have to backtrack.

That’s good advice.
