THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

Today\’s quote comes to us from Chris Hayes, the hard left weenie-type guy over at (where else?) MSNBC.

After a contentious “discussion” about Hillary Clinton – contentious only because he had a Republican on, so instead of a clean sweep for the left side of things it was only a 3-to-1 advantage – during which the Republican said Ms. Clinton\’s poll numbers had cratered because “all” women (I assume he meant that rhetorically) are running away from her, here is what Mr. Hayes had to say about her poll numbers and her campaign:

Her numbers have not cratered. All democratic women have not run away from (her). She has lost significant support as the primary process has played out, A. B, I have to say, people talk about the desperation of the Hillary Clinton campaign, whether you think it\’s a good or bad campaign, e-mails hurting or not, the one thing about the campaign is, they have been rolling out policy after policy after policy and in fact, what\’s been remarkable to me is it\’s been again, you could say this is good or bad or she\’s up or down in the polls, but the way she\’s run this campaign so far has been remarkably substantive in terms of what they have been proposing. I don\’t know if it\’s good politics or not, but the one thing they haven\’t done is anything stunty and in fact, I think to turn this around, you could make the argument they could probably use more stunt casting.

Tell you what:  Chris Hayes would have won Quote Of The Day honors for his first sentence alone.  But he has given us so much more.

As I pointed out just this morning, Hillary Clinton\’s numbers have cratered across the board – both genders.  But given her strategy of selling herself specifically as a woman (which even a blind man could see, but apparently Hayes cannot), the degree to which she has lost female support is nothing short of breathtaking.

The two most recent polls – CBS/New York Times, in which she lost 11% of woman voters in just the past month, and ABC/Washington Post, in which she lost an astonishing 41% of woman voters in two months, make this as clear as windex-sprayed glass.

The rest of Hayes\’ quote is a paean to what he characterizes as Hillary\’s “remarkably substantive” proposals.

That so?

Here is a link to Hillary Clinton\’s own web site, where she gives her position on a wide range of issues.  I challenge you to find anything there that is not a cliche, a carbon-copy of Bernie Sanders\’ ideas, or both.

I also challenge you to find anything that would in any way constitute a substantive outlining of how Ms. Clinton would actually implement all the wonderful things she promises, other than the always-implicit acquisition of higher taxes (how much does SHE pay?  How about Hubby Bubba?  How much runs through that foul-smelling “foundation” they created?)

Maybe Chris Hayes is a swami who can read between the lines and find the substance he is so taken with.  All I know is that I read the lines themselves, and I don\’t see it.

So Chris Hayes wins Quote Of The Day honors – not just for his claim that Hillary is doing fine with woman voters – which, if the polls are to be believed, is utter BS to the max – but also for his love affair with a series of “remarkably substantive” proposals that, like the proverbial man on the stair, aren\’t there:

One day I looked upon the stair,
And saw a man who wasn\’t there.
He wasn\’t there again today.
Gee, I wish he\’d go away..
