Ken Berwitz
Today\’s quote comes to us from Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) who is challenging Hillary Clinton for the Democrat presidential nomination.
Here is what Mr. Sanders has to say about his campaign, compared to the downward-trajectory spiral of Ms. Clinton\’s:
“Don\’t tell anybody. I think what theyknow is that four months ago, when I entered this race, if you look at thepolls, I was in 3 to 4%. Vast majority of the American people didn\’t know whoBernie Sanders was, they didn\’t know what my ideas were, and in last fewmonths, we have amassed huge amounts of enthusiasm and huge amounts ofenergy.
So obviously, I think the secretary\’s peopleare getting nervous about the kind of energy and enthusiasm our campaign isbringing forth.”
Is Bernie Sanders correct?
You bet he is. Sanders\’ socialist perspective (that\’s Sanders\’ description of them, not mine) is far more in tune with today\’s Democrat Party than Hillary Clinton talking about being the champion of everyday people from her uber-rich, Wall Street-connected, thoroughly predetermined, premeditated, pre-tested political world.
And if Ms. Clinton wanted to feature the difference between Sanders\’ straight talk and her political gibberish, she could not have done it better than with her reaction to what he had to say:
“I think you can come with your ownideas and you can wave your arms and give a speech. But are you connecting withand really hearing what people are either saying to you or wishing that youwould say to them?”
What does that even mean? Could Clinton have been more mealy-mouthed and political-sounding?
I award Bernie Sanders Quote Of The Day honors for showing us that, regardless of what we may think of his policies, a politician is capable of using normal language and talking to us like we are real people.
No wonder he has not stopped gaining on Hillary Clinton since he entered the race.
