Today\’s quote comes to us from a man who warns of the danger in making a “deal” with a country like Iran – i.e. an unrepentant enemy, which has absolutely no qualms about killing our people, and which has a crystal-clear record of ignoring treaties and promises, written or verbal.
Here is his warning:
“…they should know the truth. They should know that there has been gross neglect and deficiency in our defenses; they should know that we have sustained a defeat without a war, the consequences of which will travel far with us along our road; they should know that we have passed an awful milestone in our history…And do not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom…”
Strong words. Too bad President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry ignored them.
Especially since they were spoken over 76 years ago – October 5th, 1938, to be exact, about Neville Chamberlain\’s capitulation to, and appeasement of, hitler\’s Germany.
The man who spoke them? Winston Churchill.
Mr. Churchill died in 1965. And, a half-century dead, I would prefer him to the President we have now.
