Today\’s quote comes to us from an unlikely source: hard-left Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
Ms. Warren takes great exception to President Obama\’s intention to keep the TPP (Trans-Pacific Pact) as secretive as possible…until it is at a point where it cannot be changed.
In other words, exactly the same way he handled ObamaCare, which this country did not want then and does not want now..other than the people who get a partial or complete free ride on it, that is.
Here is what Ms. Warren has to say about TPP:
“The president has committed only to letting the public see this deal after Congress votes to authorize fast track. At that point it will be impossible for us to amend the agreement or to block any part of it without tanking the whole TPP. The TPP is basically done. If the president is so confident it\’s a good deal, he should declassify the text and let people see it before asking Congress to tie its hands on fixing it.”
The only problem I have with Elizabeth Warren is in the degree of her comment. It\’s not that President Obama “should” declassify what is in this pact, it is that he damn well MUST declassify it.
After almost 6 1/2 years of treating Barack Obama like some kind of monarch, answerable to no one, it is about time that at least some Democrats start making such demands – even if only to protect themselves from a possible Republican President claiming the same kind of extra-constitutional powers Mr. Obama has so often usurped since taking office. And Ms. Warren has done just that.
I award Elizabeth Warren Quote Of The Day honors because what she is saying is right on the money…
…not that I think it will do any good; not with a Narcissist-In-Chief presiding over the country who is still protected by a mainstream media, most of which are apparently enthralled with the actions he has taken during his presidency.
But at least she said it.
