Today’s quote comes to us from Attorney General Bill Barr. It apparently concerns the series of tweets President Trump has tossed out about the Roger Stone case
And since I know that at least some members of the Trump administration – maybe even the big guy himself – read this blog (it was what Rudy Giuliani was waving around when he was talking about affidavits), I hope they pay very special attention.
Says Mr. Barr:
“To have public statements and tweets made about the department, about people in the department, our men and women here, about cases pending in the department and about judges before whom we have cases, make it impossible for me to do my job and to assure the courts and the prosecutors in the department that we’re doing our work with integrity.”
Bill Barr wins Quote Of The Day honors for talking honestly about his boss’s insatiable habit of tweeting whatever is on his mind – often in a childish, provocative way…
… for telling his boss exactly why it is a problem…
…and for, in my opinion, laying down an ultimatum: either this stops or he’s gone.
My one-word advice to Mr. President:
Why do you have to alienate your people this way? Do you really want to lose someone like Attorney General Barr? Do you think he is incapable of handling this situation unless you needle him into action?
Simply stated, this has to stop.
There’s a time and a place for everything. You hired Mr. Barr to be our Attorney General. For god sake, let him be Attorney General.
And, for god sake, try to be at least somewhat judicious in what, and how, you tweet.
