The editorial board of the New York Times has published a major editorial today, titled “How Racism Doomed Baltimore”, which goes into great detail about how this major city got to its sorry state – with significant references to Chicago, which it seems in largely the same way.
Much of this editorial\’s contents rings true. It is well worth reading and thinking about.
But one major element was left out: an element that there is no way to avoid in any serious discussion of Baltimore\’s – or Chicago\’s – current racial status.
With one four-year exception, until 2015 the state of Maryland has had nothing but Democrat Governors for the past 46 years.
With no exceptions at all, the city of Baltimore has had nothing but Democrat Mayors for the past 48 years.
With no exceptions at all, the City Council of Baltimore has had nothing but Democrat members for the past 73 years.
Now, I ask you to use the link I\’ve provided and read today\’s editorial. Every word of it. If you do, you will not find one reference to which political party has been in virtually complete charge of both the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland for all these years.
How can it possibly be that, if Baltimore is such a cesspool and racism is so completely pervasive under a single party\’s rule, that party is not given at least some blame for the city\’s current state – and, in fact, it is not even mentioned?
How can it possibly be that there is not one word to suggest that Democrat “solutions” to Baltimore\’s problems have done exactly nothing to fix them – if anything, they have gotten even worse?
The New York Times editorial board makes a pathetic joke of itself by intentionally omitting this reality. I doubt very much I\’m the only one who will notice it;
I certainly hope not.
