THE G20 SUMMIT

President Trump is en route to Hamburg, Germany for the G20 summit.

Tens of thousands of protesters – including many violent anarchists – are there to greet him and the other participants.

It would be nice to find out what their idea of an alternative to trade between these and other countries is.

We already know what they are against – all capitalism, among other things – and what they want – stuff they don’t have to work or pay for.

At some point it would be nice if they had something more to show us.  But don’t expect it.

My favorite quote so far, is from German Chancellor Angela Merkel – who has made it plain she despises Donald Trump and his positions.

Here, from London’s Daily Mail (click here for the entire article – including dozens of telling pictures and videos), is what she said and why she said it:

Merkel, who is running for a fourth term in a September election, stressed today that she was committed to an open international trading system, despite fears of US protectionism under Trump.

‘We are united in our will to strengthen multilateral relations at the G20 summit… We need an open society, especially open trade flows,’ she said in Berlin.

Translation:  I may hate the guy, and I may hate that he, unlike the last U.S. President, is putting the USA first.  But the United States is the most important trading partner out there so, like him or not,  I have no choice but to deal with him.

That is called using the leverage you have.  In other words, if you are the strongest, don’t give it away; use it as leverage and make it work for your interests.

Isn’t that in The Art Of The Deal”?   Gee, I guess Trump really meant it.

Good.
