THE AD THAT MIGHT END ERIC SWALWELL’S GUBERNATORIAL CAMPAIGN

Eric Swalwell is a career politician, currently serving his seventh term as a member of the House of Representaves (the safe-Democrat 15th, then 14th District).  Swalwell now aspires to become the next Governor of California.

Tom Steyer, according to wikipedia.com, is an American billionaire, entrepreneur, politician and environmentalist.

Steyer is the founder and former co-senior managing partner of Farallon Capital, and the co-founder of OneCalifornia Bank, which became (through merger) Beneficial State Bank. Steyer served on the board of trustees at Stanford University from 2007 to 2017.  He was formerly a partner and member of the executive committee at Hellman & Friedman.

Steyer, like Swalwell, now aspires to become the next Governor of California.

But, despite their identical political aspirations, Steyer appears to have something Swalwell doesn’t:  a work ethic.

Why would I say such a thing?

In answer, Please take a look at this ad just released by the Steyer campaign.  See what you think.

So?  Did you watch it?  That’s some blockbuster of an ad, wouldn’t you agree?

Now think about how it will play to California voters:

-If Steyer were a Republican, it might have some effect, but probably wouldn’t be a major factor.  There are an awful lot of take-no-prisoners Democrats in the Golden State

-But Steyer is a Democrat just like Swalwell.  So it just might not only take Swalwell out as a gubernatorial candidate, it might also encourage a similarly “progressive” Democrat to challenge Swalwell for his House seat as well (in California he can run for both simultaneously).

California’s primaries are held on June 2.  We’ll keep an eye on this one to see how things progress, or regress, for Swalwell, such as the case might be.
