This latest installment of the Real Racism series combines clear, unmistakable racism with a demonstration of how low the new york times continues to sink.
Here are the first three paragraphs of Nell Irvin Painter’s op-ed in the times; an op-ed its editors had no problem publishing:
Two 17-year-old boys accused of harassing four African-American middle schoolgirls — using racial slurs and urinating on one of the victims — are facing charges including bias intimidation and lewdness.
The incident, which took place during an Oct. 18 high school football game in the New Jersey suburb of Lawrence Township and was partly captured on a video that circulated on social media, involves a cast of characters that has given some observers pause: Police say the boys are of Indian descent.
While it’s tempting to see the reported ethnicity of the boys suspected in the assault as complicating the story and raising questions about whether the assault should be thought of as racist, I look at it through a different lens. Instead of asking what the boys’ reported racial identity tells us about the nature of the attack, we should see the boys as enacting American whiteness through anti-black assault in a very traditional way. In doing so, the assailants are demonstrating how race is a social construct that people make through their actions. They show race in the making, and show how race is something we perform, not just something we are in our blood or in the color of our skin.
If Ms. Painter stopped at the first paragraph, there would be no issue here. Black girls were attacked in a vile, ugly way, with racial slurs tossed while the attack took place. Open and shut racism.
The fact that the boys were of Indian descent does not in any way change the racism of their actions. As I say at the end of every Real Racism installment (this one included), real racism comes in all forms from all sources. No group is immune to it or from it.
Again, if this were Ms. Painter’s point, we would be in complete agreement.
But, no, that’s not her point. Ms. Painter’s point is that this is an example of White Racism.
That’s right. Indian boys perform a racial attack on Black girls, and the culprit is White people.
Using this brilliant “social construct”, it can be argued that all racist incidents of any kind against any group can, and should, be blamed on Whites.
Whites, you see, invented racism. There was no racism without Whites. Racism is unknown among people who are not White. Whites are the Adam and Eve of racism.
Therefore, every racist act, no matter who performs it or who it is performed upon, emanates from, thus is the fault of, White people. If you are White, you owe those Black girls an apology.
This absolute mung, folks, is what the new york times considers worthy of publication on its op-ed page.
And if you think this makes the times look bad, please be advised that Nell Irvin Painter taught at Princeton and, at one time, headed the Organization of American Historians.
Holy excrement.
Real racism. It comes in all forms from all sources. No group is immune to it or from it. Certainly not a “the answer is Whites are at fault, now what is the question” commentator, or the “newspaper” that thinks her material is worth publishing.

If this country never had “diversity” there would have been no slavery, no Civil War, no segregation, no race riots etc. That’s one school of thought.
Do other races constantly blame themselves the way the white race does?
Here is Tucker talking about the racism of AOC.
