RACISM IN THE NAME OF FIGHTING RACISM

From Mark Fischer’s article in today’s New York Post:

Sacramento Kings play-by-play announcer Grant Napear was placed on administrative leave by his radio station Monday after tweeting “All Lives Matter,” a controversial phrase associated with belittling the Black Lives Matter movement.

“All Lives Matter… Every Single One!” the 60-year-old Napear tweeted Sunday after former Kings star Demarcus Cousins asked the KHTK radio host for his view on the Black Lives Matter movement.

Let me see if I understand the basis for Grant Napear being punished:

-If you say “Black lives matter” – no other people’s lives, just Black lives – that’s OK.

-But if you say “All lives matter” – everyone, Black no more or less included than anyone else – you must be punished.

Why is this a punishable offense?  Because it is “a controversial phrase associated with belittling the Black Lives Matter movement.”

And who equates a statement proclaiming that we are all equally important with belittling Black lives?

I know I don’t.

To me, the premise that Black people matter is an indisputable truism.

But stating that Black people matter, while attacking the premise that everyone matters (Black people included), is putting Black people above everyone else, thus everyone else below Black people.

That, self-evidently, is racism.  In its purest form.

The people who buy into this premise  – or think they have to pretend they do by punishing someone who says we are all equal – may think they are fighting racism.

But, in fact, they are not fighting racism.  They committing racism in its purest form.

When do these people learn that you cannot fight racism by creating more of it?  Ever?
