Since requiring a voter ID is so controversial among Democrats (far less so among Republicans) – and one of the reasons (though far from the only one) is concern that illegal aliens, mostly from Mexico, are voting in our elections – I thought it would be useful to know how Mexico hands this issue.
See the answer below:
That\’s right. Mexican citizens must show a valid ID card. Without such a card, they are unable to vote – or do just about anything else.
Moreover, once issued, the ID card is valid for only 10 years, after which Mexicans have to get a new one. And to get the card – first time, every time – they have to supply a birth certificate, another form of photo identification and a recent utility bill.
Early voting? Same day registration? Forget about it.
Fascinating, isn\’t it, that Mexico – which millions and millions of illegals flee because they cannot hope to live as well there as they can in the United States – is far more serious about preventing voter fraud than we are.
Could it be that, maybe, Mexico is making more sense than states which do not require a voter ID? A lot more sense?
