While we\’re on the subject of mainstream media abrogating its journalistic responsibilites, almost certainly based on partisanship….
Two days ago I also blogged about the beyond-astonishing revelation that President Obama and Secretary Of State Kerry agreed that Iran could perform its own inspections of a nuclear facility.
Yes, you read that right. Iran was given the green light to perform its own inspections of a nuclear facility.
So how did the major networks handle this?
Well, according to Kyle Drennan\’s article at newsbusters.org, ABC and CBS did not report it at all. NBC reported it, but then immediately put up a defense – a remarkably lame one – by Andrea Mitchell, who assured us that UN inspectors will “supervise” Iranians, who would do their own inspection of the nuclear facility. The UN would not inspect, it would oversee the Iranians who would self-inspect. Does that reassure you?
Only Fox provided serious coverage of this incredible, story.
So if you happen to be one of the millions and millions who rely on ABC, CBS or NBC for news, you either don\’t know a thing about this, or you “know” that maybe it\’s not such a big deal.
That is what passes for mainstream media today.
Keep \’em ignorant and you own \’em.
And, as I said in the previous blog, I would say shame on them….but I won\’t because it seems that they are beyond shame.
