LOST ANGELES

In a previous blog, I discussed one example of the hopeless mess that San Francisco is rapidly degenerating into.

But, in case anyone thinks SF is the only California city going in this direction, please consider LA.

Sharif Khan’s article, at dailywire.com, paints an ugly, even horrifying, description of what this once-great city is becoming.

Here is just a taste (but there is a great deal more, so be sure to use the link and read Mr. Khan’s entire piece):

Recent protests in Los Angeles over attempts to end homeless encampments in public areas signal just how deranged many progressives have become over the pressing issue of addiction and homelessness in California and elsewhere.

…what so many of these entitled activists fail to recognize is how these derelict encampments impact the working poor. It’s the working poor who have to navigate in perilous proximity to the many fatiguing criminal elements that fuel these encampments.

The working poor are the ones who are forced to deal directly with all the refuse and risk from the addiction epidemic. They have to contend with the many strung-out, dangerous individuals on their daily commutes on buses, subways, and sidewalks alongside all the trash, human waste, and hazardous needles that now infest their world.

Not only is drug use hopelessly prevalent in these encampments, so are drug dealing and all the nefarious consequences associated with it, including violence and prostitution. According to LAPD Captain Brian Morrison, most of these encampments are built around heroin and meth.

Can this be Los Angeles?  The iconic “city of angels”?

Is “ground zero” of the entertainment industry really turning into just “zero”?  A crime-ridden city, with homeless people who have an attitude of entitlement?

Sad to say, there is a great deal of evidence – including, but not limited to, this article -that says yes, it is.

And, crime-wise, one look at the statistics, comparing Los Angeles to the rest of California – and to the country overall – tells an even more disheartening story.

California – very much including Los Angeles – is going down the toilet.  And its one-party government, both in the state, and in Los Angeles (among many other cities), seems not only okay with it, but leaves an impression that it thinks the descent is a proud demonstration of left-wing (er, progressive) success.

Do you agree?  Your call.

  • When I was young I would go with my dad to the LA Produce Market to buy produce for our store.
I remember one block that was called skid row, now just about every block down there is skid row.
