ISRAEL & PEARL HARBOR: AN INTERESTING COMPARISON

On October 7, 2023, hamas-controlled Gaza launched a surprise attack on civilians in northern Israel.  Because of that attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared war on Gaza.  That war has continued for about 5 months so far.

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese government launched a surprise attack on our military base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Because of that attack, President Roosevelt declared war on Japan – a war we fought for almost four years (Japan surrendered on September 2, 1945).

Israel lost 1,200 – 1,400 people in northern Israel – predominantly civilians – out of a total population of about 9.5 million.

The United States lost 2,403 people at Pearl Harbor – predominantly military personnel – out of a total population of about 133 million.

Assuming the lower number of 1,200 casualties in Israel (the higher number would make this even worse), the equivalent loss, if Israel had the population of 1941 United States – literally, 14 times as many people – it would have lost 16,800 people on October 7.

The United States went to war over the loss of 2,403 military.  Would it be fair to say it would have gone to war if – we’re talking equivalency here – if they had lost 16,800?

Anyone still want to argue about what Israel did, and the fact that they are still doing it just five months later?  Just asking…………..
