This falls squarely into the “you can’t make this stuff up” category.
Did you know that by claiming victory in the Iowa caucuses, Pete Buttigieg exposed his White male privilege?
Assuming you are compos mentis, thus wondering what one thing has to do with the other, neither did I.
But we have this, excerpted from Trent Spiner’s article at politico.com:
Pete Buttigieg returned to New Hampshire this week riding a wave of momentum generated by his surprisingly strong Iowa finish. But he was greeted by pushback from some of the most powerful women in the state, who saw a double standard in his declaration of victory in Iowa late Monday.
In their view, the 38-year-old mayor’s unexpected assertion — a calculated political statement delivered without any accompanying evidence at the time — smacked of “white male privilege,” “hubris” and a lack of equanimity that a female candidate would be criticized for.
“In a moment where he should show composure and measure, he’s not doing that,” said Jenn Alford-Teaster, a Sen. Elizabeth Warren supporter and Democratic activist running for state Senate. ”But he’s going to get away with it because that’s what happens when you’re a man. You can do whatever you want. For women, we’re held to a different standard and it’s demoralizing as a candidate and it’s demoralizing as a voter.”
The article goes on to quote three other prominent New Hampshire Democrat women who feel the same way.
You’ve got the link above, so you can read their comments and – again assuming you are compos mentis – marvel with me that a male political candidate happily declaring victory is some kind of affront to non-White people in general and women in particular.
This is classic POPPO (Professionally Oppressed, Perpetually Pissed Off) stuff. It is nuts. And I do mean NUTS.
But do not doubt that there is a significant, and growing, wing of the Democrat Party which buys into this nuttiness without a second thought.
My thanks to Mr. Spiner and politico.com for publishing this remarkable example of POPPO lunacy. Most media, you can be sure, will not tell the public a thing about it.
