Following the report that Jews will be allowed to enter the Temple Mount for Jerusalem Day, riots broke out on the Temple Mount on Sunday, according to the Police Spokesperson’s Unit.
The commander of the Jerusalem district, Maj.-Gen. Doron Yedid, ordered the police to enter the Temple Mount and take care of the rioters.
As the police attempted to enter the place, Arab worshipers began throwing stones, chairs and other objects at the forces. The forces responded with riot dispersal means.
The article goes on to note that, generally speaking Jews are not allowed in the temple mount area during the last days of Ramadan, out of deference to the Arab Muslims there.
Do you know of any places in the world where members of the majority religion would be prevented from going to an area out of deference to a minority religion?
And what do you think would happen if, say, what few Iraqi Jews were left rioted and threw stones at Iraqi Muslims trying to visit a mosque? I won’t even try to ask what would happen in places like Syria, or Saudi Arabia, or Yemen, or Libya, or Iran, or…..well, you get the picture.
This is truly an “only in Israel” situation. One that somehow is expected, even demanded, of the Jewish state and no other.
That’s something to think about.
Perhaps if we take chapters 16-22 of Genesis seriously these international conflicts make some sense. That of course assumes some general respect for those 66 books called the Bible. Placing our Creator in a box past and present is not respectful of Him at all. Temples, cathedrals and shrines fit this category as well. Of course this should awaken the three major monotheistic religions up to the reality of their existence. All three have their basis from those scriptures. Any problem with that? Simply review my first sentence above. Plus, our time in America is approaching with the open degradation of our Christian heritage, some of which descended from Isaac and Ishmael.
