CBS DEFINES THE BATHROOM CONTROVERSY

You might have thought that the controversy over the Obama administration’s directive/threat regarding who uses which bathrooms, was between people who do, and do not, support members of one sex using the bathrooms/lockers/showers of the other sex, based on their feeling – whether sincere or insincere (no way to tell for sure) that, their plumbing notwithstanding, they are of the other gender.

Not CBS news.

Here is the headline, sub-head and first paragraph of its lead story this morning:

States push back on transgender bathroom use

Conservative politicians call guidance to schools “outrageous” and “blackmail” as transgender students and their parents praise the directive

Politicians in Texas, Arkansas and elsewhere vowed defiance — and other conservative states could follow suit — after the Obama administration told public schools across the U.S. on Friday to let transgender students use the bathrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity.

To anyone who looks at that “reporting”, this is a dispute between conservative politicians, and transgender students and their parents.  The end.

Not a hint that non-“conservative” politicians or average citizens – even citizens who are sympathetic to the problems of people who believe they are transgender (like me, for example) have any problem with “come one-come all” bathrooms.

You have to get to the 8th paragraph to find any suggestion that there is concern about sexual predators exploiting the transgender angle.  And, even then, the article immediately downplays it as a virtually nonexistent threat:

While supporters say the measure is needed to protect women and children from sexual predators, the Justice Department and others argue the threat is practically nonexistent and the law discriminatory.

“Practically nonexistent”?  Isn’t that what media keep telling us about voter fraud too?

A question:  do you have any doubt that pedophiles – we’re talking mostly men here –  are going to see this as a golden opportunity to posture as transgenders so they can get into women’s facilities, whether bathrooms, locker rooms or showers?

You would have to be an idiot to believe otherwise.

Either that or a committed liberal/leftist who is so doctrinaire that you can be sold on anything which combines “helping” to people you see as members of an oppressed minority, with putting the wood to those despicable “conservatives” –you know, the ones who figure a men’s bathroom is for men and a women’s bathroom is for women.  Exactly what was second-naturedly accepted until the take-no-prisoners social engineers decided otherwise.

Are you surprised at the tone, the lean, of CBS’s article?  I hope you’re not.  Because not only is it no surprise that a major news organization is bowing to this latest effort at social engineering, but you can bet CBS is not going to be the only one.
