Halloween is supposed to be a fun day for children, where they can trick-or-treat and get candy.
What genius turned the Halloween party for children of executive branch employees at the White House into a controversial political statement?
From Andrew Court’s article for London’s Daily Mail:
- A Halloween party was held last Monday for the families of executive-branch employees in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building
- Some guests were left ‘horrified’ by the fact the festivities included a ‘Build The Wall’ activity
- According to Yahoo, children were allegedly encouraged to write their names on red pieces of paper designed to act at bricks on a border wall mural
Allow me to offer my “congratulations” to whomever thought this up.
You managed to take a fun time for children and turn it into a stupid political stunt that, instead of being remembered as a happy time, will instead be remembered as children being used as political pawns with the concomitant, fully justified, negative press it is generating.
Way to go.
What’s next? A Christmas party with the 12 apostles turned into jurors for a mock impeachment proceeding?
