A 13 HOURS CHALLENGE

Ken Berwitz

As you are probably aware, the movie “13 Hours:  The Inside Account Of What Really Happened In Benghazi” is due for release next week.

But a pre-release, pre-review account of it has been written by Michael Cieply, and is in today\’s New York Times.

Below, is a small swatch of what Mr. Cieply wrote, after which I will issue my challenge:

While Mr. Geist did not address specific failures in the official response to the attack, the film bluntly portrays several. The film\’s operatives openly question inadequate security measures at the diplomatic compound in advance of the attack. C.I.A. staffers deride and disregard the operatives, and play down the dangers in Libya. Requested air support never arrives.

Still, Mr. Bay shared the conviction of the operatives, Mr. Zuckoff and Erwin Stoff, a producer of the film, that partisan politics should generally be avoided.  Hillary Clinton, who was secretary of state when the attack took place – and who has been harshly criticized by Republicans who have tried to tie the attack to what they contend was her mismanagement – is never mentioned.

Ok.  Here\’s my challenge to you:  if Hillary Clinton was Secretary Of State when the Benghazi took place, and the film openly addresses inadequate security measures and tells us that requested air support never arrived…

…who would the responsible party be?  Her secretary?  George Bush?  Waldo? Pippi Longstocking?

Showing the Secretary Of State\’s lapses without mentioning Ms. Clinton by name, is a little like noting that the Red Sox were shut out by the Yankees, 10-0 without mentioning that they lost the game.  If it isn\’t said, you\’re not supposed to know?

There are many reasons I consider today\’s mainstream media thoroughly biased and deep in the tank for Hillary Clinton.  This is just another one of them.

One other thing:  Last year, Hollywood hotshots put out “Truth”, which was supposed to show that Dan Rather was right about George Bush not showing up for national guard duty, and “Trumbo”, which chronicled the life of the extremely talented, hardline communist, Dalton Trumbo.  Both movies were box office bombs – especially “Truth”.  Combined, they have grossed less than $10 million in gross box office receipts.

Want to take bets on how much better “13 Hours” does, by comparison?  How much more interest there will be, despite media\’s best efforts to bury this horrible scandal?

I\’ll lay odds.
