Today’s quote comes to us from President Joe Biden.
On a telephone call to NBC’s Al Roker, yesterday, before the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Mr. Biden said this:
“On this Thanksgiving, Al, we have to come together. We can have different political views, but we have one view. The one view is that we’re the finest, greatest nation in the world. We should focus on that.”
“We should focus on dealing with our problems and being together and stop the rancor. We have to bring the nation together and treat each other with a little bit of decency, and I think that’s where the vast majority of the American people are.”
Lovely sentiment. A very conciliatory, welcoming message for all of us to come together and respect each other.
Except…
…we have this, from Victor Nava’s article for the New York Post:
The Biden campaign released a not-so-festive list of talking points Thursday aimed at helping his supporters navigate “nonsense” political talk around the Thanksgiving table, the same day the 81-year-old president pleaded with Americans to “stop the rancor” over political differences.
The list, which the Biden campaign called, “Your handy guide for responding to crazy MAGA nonsense this Thanksgiving,” was shared on X and included questionable claims about inflation, job creation and former President Donald Trump’s position on a federal abortion ban.
Please note that the nasty, divisive material released by Biden’s campaign occurred on the same day as his call to Al Roker.
The best thing I can say about this is that Biden, clearly not in control of himself or his presidency, might not have known that his words to Roker were in direct contradiction to his campaign material. But, given Biden’s long history of dishonesty and inconsistency, I doubt that is true.
With the above in mind, I award Joe Biden Quote Of The Day honors for showing us that he either doesn’t know what he is saying, only that he was told to say it….or that he does know what he is saying, but doesn’t care that his conciliatory statement and divisive, malevolent campaign material are 100% in opposition to each other.
