ACADEMIC BROWNSHIRTS (CONT.)

The latest example of Academic Brownshirts, hard at work to prevent any but their own views from being heard on college campuses, comes to us from Katherine Timpf, writing for nationalreview.com (did you really expect mainstream media to cover a story like this?)

And, to make things even worse, a major progenitor of this round of Academic Brownshirtism is janet napolitano, Barack Obama\’s thoroughly incompetent former Secretary of Homeland Security who now is the President of the University of California.

Here are the first two paragraphs (and there\’s more – so please use the link I\’ve provided to read it all:

University of California faculty leader-training handout instructed professors not to say that “America is the land of opportunity” because that\’s a racist, sexist microaggression.

According to the handout, called “Tool: Recognizing Microaggressions and the Messages they Send,” the statement “assert[s] that race and gender [do] not play a role in life successes” – despite the fact that saying opportunities exist and saying that opportunities are more easily attainable for some people than others are not mutually exclusive assertions.

Other microaggressions listed on the document include asking, “Where are you from or where were you born?” (because it suggests that the person you\’re asking is “not a true American”); asking a post-doctoral minority student whether he or she is lost in the halls of a chemistry building (because it makes “the assumption that the person is trying to break into one of the labs”); and having students fill out forms on which they have to check a box indicating whether they\’re male or female. .

At the beginning of this blog, I defined “microaggression” as Academic Brownshirts, hard at work to prevent any but their own views from being heard on college campuses.  Anyone want to give me an argument about that?

Sorta makes you feel like Jerry Seinfeld (and Chris Rock and Larry the Cable Guy) have a point when they indicate they don\’t perform on college campuses anymore.  Actually it suggests that, if anything, the reasons they gave showed massive restraint.

Let me end with words of someone using the screen name “TwiSpark2 ” whose comment about this impossibly ridiculous, destructive, mindless idiocy was my favorite (and, believe me, there was plenty of competition):

Their microaggression is a microaggression. I\’m offended, therefore I am right. And if they come back with, “But you\’re a white guy!” I will answer “Today I feel like a black woman. You can\’t deny me that right to think that way, your racist misogynist!”

Maybe that Alinsky guy was on to something. In any case, it would be amusing to watch the circular logic cause them to rotate in ever-decreasing circles until they disappear up their own rear ends.

Well said.

UPDATE:  Arnold Ahlert, writing for Canada Free Press, has just posted a commentary on this lunacy that is much more detailed than mine….and is well worth reading.  Please use the link I\’ve provided and see for yourself.
