There are two ways of revising ObamaCare: either change it in some way(s) or repeal it.
Both options – obviously for very different reasons – resulted in the loss of several Republican votes.
Neither option would generate even one Democrat vote.
So, with a paper-thin 52-48 senate majority, and a start of 48 no votes, both ways were doomed. Obama stays as is…for the moment.
But next year, 34 senate seats are up for grabs – 26 of them currently held by Democrats and ten of those Democrat seats in states that Donald Trump won.
This is a golden opportunity for Republicans to substantially increase their senate majority, and have the ability to pass revisions to, or repeal of, ObamaCare, along with a good many other pieces of legislation.
If they don’t blow it.
Which, given that we’re talking about the Republican party, is one bodaciously big “if”.
