This latest example of real racism comes to us from Delta, Colorado…where linda sorenson, who had been chairwoman of the Delta County Republican Party, resigned…after posting an obviously racist picture/caption on her facebook page.
According to Charles Ashby, of the Grand Junction (CO) Daily Sentinel:
The to-do began last month when Sorensen posted a black-and-white picture of former President Ronald Reagan bottle-feeding a chimp named Bonzo in the 1951 movie, “Bedtime for Bonzo.” Above and below the picture, someone added: “I’ll be dammed … Reagan used to babysit Obama!”
Could that be more racist? Or stupider to post where others could see it?
Even someone with the “intelligence” level required to post something like that should be smart enough to realize what the fallout would be. But not this someone.
Dan Suppes, who is currently Mayor of Orchard City, Colorado but is running to become a member of the Delta County Commission, got it right when he said:
“There’s no room for racism, intended or unintended, in society,” he said. “It’s best for the party, best for the county, that she step down.”
But is there any doubt that the damage has been done?
Real racism. It comes in all forms from all sources. No group is immune to it or from it. Certainly not a beyond-obtuse jerk who thinks it is funny, and appropriate, and, apparently, not especially offensive, to compare our Black President to a chimp.

Liberals compared George W. Bush to a chimp all the time, I even remember the website bushorchimp.com. No one gave a damn about that.
