Today’s quote comes to us from Rafael Cruz, father of Senator and presidential hopeful Ted Cruz:
“I implore, I exhort every member of the Body of Christ to vote according to the word of God, and vote for the candidate that stands on the word of God and on the Constitution of the United States of America,” Cruz said. “And I am convinced that man is my son, Ted Cruz. The alternative could be the destruction of America.”
Mr. Cruz wins Quote Of The Day honors for reminding us that he, like his son Ted, puts his evangelical Christian faith above all else.
It is one of the key reasons Cruz will never get my vote.
The last time I checked, the presidency is a secular position. The last thing I want is Ted Cruz’s (or anyone else’s) religious views being shoved down my throat.
It is a bully pulpit, not a religious one. Maybe someone ought to remind Rafael and Ted of that.
The Sr. Cruz is a minister and….surprise! talks like one. Today, Donald Trump all but accused Rafael of murdering JFK. Trump winning will destroy the little left of this country I remember. And your worry is Cruz’ religiosity?”
As I’ve mentioned in a number of previous blogs, I won’t vote for Trump either. Not for a barroom loudmouth whose opinions change on a dime, or an evangelical firebreather who seems to have trouble understanding when his religious beliefs end and the constitution starts. Between them and the Clinton/Sanders duo, if I could erase this election year from existence, I’d run, not walk, to do it.
