Today’s paragraph comes to us from John Hinderaker”s latest commentary at powerlineblog.com. It offers Mr. Hinderaker’s take on what he thinks the result of what the result of this ugly sham-show of a “hearing” are going to yield – particularly for Democrats:
So I think Kavanaugh will be confirmed. Will the Democrats be disappointed? It is hard to say. If Kavanaugh isn’t confirmed, the next Justice will be the younger and more conservative Amy Barrett. The fact is that Kavanaugh is as moderate a nominee as the Democrats are going to see. So they may be content with the pleasure of slandering an innocent man, the damage they have done to the Supreme Court as an institution, the fundraising they are feverishly doing at this moment, and another bogus issue to fire up their low-information base in November. The damage they are doing to our republic? They don’t care.
As someone who has never registered with a political party in my life, and who fervently wants there to be two viable, vibrant political parties with respectable people and ethical dealings, it would be hard to overstate how disgusted I am with what the Democrat Party of recent years has sunk to.
Mr. Hinderaker, sad to say, has described its current status very accurately. That is why he wins Paragraph Of The Day honors…
…and why I find it harder and harder to understand how the decent Democrats in congress (and there are still plenty of them) can still abide quietly acquiescing, and not demanding this descent into lunatic-fringe leftism stop, and stop now.

If any moderate democrats exist they should be looking for a new party, they are not welcome in the current party. If they say one thing that the new dem party dislikes they will be hounded and ruined. So they have two choices, shut up and go along with the obscene actions of the party or find a new one.
