New York City mayoral candidate – and, as of now, apparent winner – zohran mamdani has issued a statement on the second anniversary of hamas’ massacre of over 1,200 Israelis and taking of over 250 hostages….with its stated promise of doing it “again and again”.
Here is his statement – in rust, with my reactions in blue:
“Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more. I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities. If that was all mamdani said? Though, based on many of his other statements, I wouldn’t believe him, at least it would have been the right words. But that wasn’t all he said. Here’s the rest.
“In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war: a death toll that now far exceeds 67,000; with the Israeli military bombing homes, hospitals, and schools into rubble. Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief itself has run out of language. I mourn these lives and pray for the families that have been shattered. Our government has been complicit through it all. Uh…forgetting for a moment that the total itself is almost certainly a hamas lie…and that hamas conveniently leaves out how many of the dead are hamas fighters… what, exactly is genocidal here? Is it genocidal to warn civilians (and therefore hamas) of where and when you are bombing so they can safely leave? Is it genocidal to hit hospitals and schools because hamas puts its military assets at or near them – thus using its own people as human shields? Israel is about as UN-genocidal as any army in history.
“This must end. The occupation and apartheid must end. Peace must be pursued through diplomacy, not war crimes, and our government must act to end these atrocities and hold those responsible to account. Occupation? Israel wasn’t occupying any of Gaza until hamas’ massacre and hostage-taking. Apartheid? 20% of Israel is Arab, and they manage to live in peace with the Jewish majority. That’s some helluvan apartheid state. Another thing: did you ever wonder why there is no civil war in Israel over its action in Gaza? How about because Israeli Arabs would rather live in the peace and freedom of Israel than in the hellhole you’re comparing it to. When you make comments like this your true colors are as clear as glass.
“These last two years have demonstrated the very worst of humanity. We must answer it by modeling the very best: a relentless pursuit of our higher ideals and an unwavering commitment to universal human rights.” If Israel ceased to exist tomorrow you’d be dancing in the street, you lying fraud.
I’d add more, but I don’t like to use the language it would necessitate.
My congratulations, in advance, to New York City residents for what the polling shows to be their intention of electing this hate-filled anti-Semite to the mayoralty…with a very special congratulation to the Jewish SIPs of New York City – who are either so Stupid, or so Ignorant, or so Partisan – or so self-loathing – that they would vote for this “man”.
Do me a favor: don’t cry to me about him once he’s there, and he doesn’t have to pretend he gives a damn about you anymore. I don’t want to hear it.
