I was all set to write a relatively lengthy blog showing why it is so self-evidently obvious that the Obama-run FBI planted a spy – maybe more than one – in Donald Trump’s campaign.
But Sharyl Attkisson – formerly an award-winning investigative reporter for CBS News, until CBS didn’t like how serious she was about real investigative reporting – has done such a stellar job of putting the pieces together that I don’t have to.
You can read Ms. Attkisson’s entire piece by clicking here. And you would be cheating yourself egregiously not to do so. But let me give you a taste, by putting up Attkisson’s introduction in its entirety, and then briefly synopsizing the eight reasons she cites:
It may be true that President Trump illegally conspired with Russia and was so good at covering it up he’s managed to outwit our best intel and media minds who’ve searched for irrefutable evidence for two years. (We still await special counsel Robert Mueller’s findings.)
But there’s a growing appearance of alleged wrongdoing equally as insidious, if not more so, because it implies widespread misuse of America’s intelligence and law enforcement apparatus.
Here are eight signs pointing to a counterintelligence operation deployed against Trump for political reasons.
I love that first paragraph. It’s great when someone can combine sarcasm and elementary logic as well as Sharyll Attkisson did.
Now the synopsized eight reasons:
–The operation had a code name: You give code names to spy operations, not embedding someone to help out.
-Secret surveillance of 7 different members of the Trump team: You do that to help Trump out? Yeah, right – and all Jack and Jill did up that hill was fetch water.
–Using national security letters, which eliminate the need for judicial approval.
–Unmasking: A KGB-type move used by multiple members of the Obama administration. Read the detailed explanation when you link to Ms. Attkisson’s entire piece.
–Changing the rules: The day Trump officials were surveilled at Trump Tower (no wiretapping, eh?), the execrable james clapper changed the rules…”allowing the National Security Agency to widely disseminate surveillance material within the government without the normal privacy protections”.
–Media strategy: Now that they are no longer in government, james clapper and john brennan have joined the Trump-hating MSNBC and CNN, where they are paid handsomely to spin this national disgrace every day.
–Leaks: Ongoing for the past year, and timed to do maximum damage to Trump & Co.
–Friends, informants & snoops: Spy (that’s, right, SPY) Stefan Halper, Comey’s designated leaker, Daniel Richman, and Fusion GPS’s Glenn Simpson all come into play here.
Is that enough for you?
If not, let’s also remember that, as I have been pointing out since Saturday, if this were truly an attempt to protect/insulate candidates from Russian interference in the 2016 election rather than a spy operation against Donald Trump, how come there weren’t any, er, protectors/insulators planted in the Hillary Clinton campaign?
Wasn’t Hillary Clinton the candidate virtually guaranteed to win, thus the one who needed such protection/insulation far more than that loser Trump did?
We’re still waiting for an answer, however lame and contrived, to that one.
Hey, maybe NBC’s Peter Alexander can help. Heck, he and the rest of the Today Show gang have been helping just about every other way they can, why not this way too?
Put everything you’ve just read together, and explain to me how there is any possible way to credibly claim Donald Trump’s campaign wasn’t being spied on. Go ahead, give it a try. I dare you.
