Let me start with this revolting news, from an article at the Associated Press.
Twenty five news organizations have signed a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry asking him to demand that Iran release Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, who it has held on concocted BS charges for over a year. Iran is also holding three, and possibly four other US citizens on similarly bogus charges.
Mr. Kerry says he will respond “as appropriate”, and James Kirby, one of his press flaks, says we are “working very hard to get our citizens back home, and we call again on Iran to release them”.
Why is this revolting?
Because we did not ALREADY get these political prisoners, that\’s why.
We gave away the store to Iran, the world\’s most prolific supporter of terrorism. We caved into just about every one of its demands. We even agreed to the release of over 100 billion dollars of its formerly frozen funds.
For WHAT? What did we get in return?
Did we get our prisoners back? No, they are still imprisoned.
Did we get the restitution money being paid to the 44 people (or their estates) who Iran held hostage for over a year in 1979-1980? No, that money is coming from the US taxpayer.
What we got was a promise. A promise that Iran would be nice and not pursue the creation of nuclear bombs – something Iran had denied working on in the past (a lie) and is refusing any realistic way of checking on even now.
That is what we got. And it is revolting
I count the seconds until the useless John Kerry, and his disastrously over-matched boss, Barack Obama, are in our rear view mirror.
That time cannot come soon enough.
