As I write this, former President Donald Trump is continuing to speak, to a massive crowd in the South Bronx.
The crowd came there to see and hear him, so – not surprisingly – they are enthusiastically applauding everything he says….just as the studio audience, which comes to see and hear the hard leftists on The View, enthusiastically applauds everything they say.
But the truth is, his “speech” – entirely extemporaneous (I’ll give him that), is obnoxious. It is filled with self-congratulation, wild exaggerations and general bombast.
Trump is proving he can draw a big crowd of supporters anywhere, even The Bronx (which has not voted Republican since doing so for Calvin Coolidge in 1924).
Unfortunately, he is also proving that he does not know how or when to shut the eff up/turn off the incessant rambling, or tone down the ridiculous exaggerations, or put a sock in his super-egotistical self promotion.
And this is our alternative to the doddering, near-senile Joe Biden?
God help us.
