In this world, there are some people who, when given a chance to come up big or small, inevitably come up small.
Donald Trump is one of them.
During the Democrats’ convention, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg blasted Mr. Trump, in very blunt terms, calling him, among other things, a “con man” and a “risky, reckless, radical choice”.
Bloomberg’s comments were nasty and over-the-top. But They were also a tremendous opportunity for Trump to show that he had finally learned how to rise above a gutter fight and display at least a small modicum of statesmanship.
Instead, here is what he said, via Noah Remnick’s article in the New York Times:
“I was going to hit one guy in particular, a very little guy,” he told a crowd of supporters in Davenport. “I was going to hit this guy so hard his head would spin, he wouldn’t know what the hell happened.”
“He came out of nowhere,” Mr. Trump said. “He made deals with me. ‘Will you help me with this? Would you make this deal and solve the problem?’ I solved the problem. I do a great job.”
In a freewheeling speech in Davenport, Mr. Trump said that he was so infuriated by disparaging remarks made about him at the Democratic convention that he “wanted to hit a couple of those speakers so hard” but that he was counseled by “a highly respected governor” to show restraint.
This is a statesman? This is someone who learned something in the last year?
No it is not. Donald Trump has again proven that he is still every bit the small, incredibly thin-skinned, playground-quality jerk he was on the day he announced his candidacy.
Tell me: what will Trump say when the ruler of a dangerous, well-armed country personally attacks him? What, as commander in chief, will he do? Prove his manhood by hitting him so hard his head will spin….and giving that head of state a rationale for using his country’s military and terrorism resources to go Trump one better? How many people will die because Donald Trump’s feelings were hurt?
Hell, what will he say and do when someone in a friendly country says something negative about him?
This leaves us with two astonishingly bad choices for president: an accomplishmentless, corrupt liar, and the world’s richest barroom loudmouth.
In previous blogs, I have said that, if I could exorcise the 2016 election from existence, I would do it without a second thought.
That stills stands. 100%.

Trump is uncouth, boorish, coarse and a bully. More power to Mayor Bloomberg and his speech! Trump only sees the world with his ignorant myopic perspective. I have confidence HIllary will not destroy this country….Trump will for his own silly ego of nonsense.
What is your view on immigration?
We have 11 million illegals. I would support some type of process to citizenship. Give them a work permit with paying taxes. In addition, I would allow them to have a driver’s license and auto insurance. What is yours?
Ken I have 2 questions for you.
1. Did you see the appearance on Fox Business Network and the speech in Davenport?
2. Or are you going off what this article says about them?
If he did make those comments I will let you in on a little secret. That is why he is so popular. He doesn’t roll over like Romney, McCain and even Bush. People are sick of politicians that are cowed by the media and Dems.
I don’t think he will talk that way to leaders of other nations. But just like with Clinton we really can’t know how either will react when confronted. Will Clinton lie and cheat leaders of other countries? Will these leaders suddenly have suspicious fatal accidents? Or will she just smile and accept donations to the foundation, while screwing over this country???
free – it’s no secret. The positive element of Trump’s behavior is that it flies in the face of the establishment/scripted/predictable BS we get from most members of both parties. Trump may be an ignorant lout and loudmouth, but at least when he says what he says he means it – even if the “it” might change tomorrow. We are in a sorry state of affairs for this to be construed as a positive, but that IS where we are now
Ken, you opinions are shocking to me. Trump is disgusting.
Judy – you consider what I wrote positive? Wow
Judy, I find your opinions to not only be shocking but anti-American. You are disgusting.
Ken, I think this latest comment from Trump may be the one that knocks you over. Are you ready for it? Here it is.
“I’ve been nice. But after watching that performance last night, such lies, I don’t have to be so nice anymore. I’m taking the gloves off…”

Ken what about my first comments about if you saw these Trump events with your own eyes or are trusting the NYT’s to relay the truth about what Trump did or did not say?
