I will make this short and not at all sweet.
President Trump just conducted a press conference where he attacked the Somalian community in Minnesota.
Is there a lot of fraud and misuse of funds in the Somalian community? It seems obvious that there is.
But to generalize about ALL Somalians is absolutely disgusting. Obnoxious. Stupid. Prejudiced. Disgraceful.
Black people, as a group, are more prone to criminality and violence than the general population. Does that mean every Black person you meet is criminal? Violent? Would you equate Black criminals with Black business people? Doctors? Lawyers?
Jews, as a group, are more financially well off than the general population. Does that mean that every Jew is rich? If bernie madoff was thief does that mean the next Jew you see on the street is a thief?
I could go on, but I think you get the point.
I appreciate Donald Trump’s anger and frustration with what is going on in Minnesota and how much of the problem seems centered within the Somalian population. But to tar every Somalian immigrant with that brush is – as said earlier – disgusting. Obnoxious. Stupid. Prejudiced. Disgraceful.
Stop it. Mr. President. For the sake of common decency, stop it now.
