This morning, The Today Show, during a review of the week, (mis)informed its viewers that President Trump’s recognizing Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel was:
“Seven decades of U.S. policy changed in an instant”.
This statement – versions of which were also made on ABC and CBS over the past days – is a lie. It is Fake News.
FYI: The Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act, which mandated the move, was overwhelmingly passed by congress and signed into law by then-President Bill Clinton in 1995.
Therefore, U.S. Policy, for the past 22 years, has been exactly what President Trump announced.
The fact that neither Bill Clinton, nor George Bush, nor Barack Obama implemented The Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act over the 22 years since being enacted into law does not mean the policy was not in existence. It means Donald Trump is the only President who actually made good on the policy.
And they wonder why fewer and fewer people trust them? Wow.
The facebook post you just read makes two important points – one about Donald Trump’s commitment to Israel and one about media coverage of Trump – that I doubt I need to explain to you.
