I’ll make this short and sweet:
As someone who fully supports gay and transgender rights (for real, not just to set up my point of view), allowing men into women’s bathrooms and men into women’s bathrooms is nuts.
It is an open invitation for every pedophile to get his/her jollies, and every wiseass kid to hold a phone over the stall to take a picture of a member of the opposite sex either showering or using the toilet…as the University of Toronto found out, which is why it reversed the school’s decision about everyone-welcome bathrooms.
Simply stated, if you have a penis, use the men’s room and if you have a vagina, use the women’s room.
If you believe you are a member of one sex trapped in the body of another, you are fully welcome to that belief, but not to act it out by going into the bathroom of the gender you think you should have been. Other people have rights too.

The issue is not a 0.01% of the population who maintain their plumbing is not their gender.
The issue is a much, much larger group who are sexual predators. And of course, hormone driven teens, who have no common sense or boundaries, and are looking for cheap thrills.
As a practical matter, if transgenders dress the part, they probably could mostly not attract attention.
