THE TRUMP JANUARY 6 PARDONS/COMMUTATIONS

Unless I am misreading the accounts reported today, President Trump has either pardoned or commuted the sentences of pretty much everyone involved in the January 6 incursion/riot.

Most of the pardons are fine with me.  The level of political vindictiveness used to go after many of the protesters – including years in prison, often solitary confinement, without even being charged – is beyond belief.  It is far more worthy of a Cuba or Venezuela than it is of the United States.

But the pardon/commutation of any January 6 participant convicted of violence during that incursion/riot?  That is nothing less than answering one outrage by committing another one.

I understand Trump thought he won the election, that it was rigged, and he should have had his second term at that time.  But giving a free pass to people who forcibly broke into the Capital Building and assaulted police officers there?  That is inexcusable and unforgivable.

Donald Trump should be ashamed of himself for doing this, and the country should be ashamed of Donald Trump.
