The lead story on this morning’s Today Show is that Michael Cohen’s business partner, Evgeny Friedman, has agreed to a plea deal for offenses related to personal tax evasion, and will presumably get a break in return for his testimony.
What testimony? Related to what? That has not been announced.
However, this was enough for Today to make it the lead story – complete with ominous suggestions that it might have something to do with Donald Trump.
The claim, as you can see, is based on …. nothing.
Is it clear that his testimony will not be related to anything involving Donald Trump? Nope – no more than it is clear his testimony will or will not be related to anyone or anything else.
But the suggestion, however distant, that this could be bad for President Trump was enough for NBC’s Today Show to make it this morning’s lead story…
…which should tell you plenty about NBC news and the Today Show.
Oh, did I mention that there is news that former CIA Director john brennan was caught in another bald-faced lie about the so-called Steele dossier – the one that was supposed to blow the lid of the Trump presidency, but has resulted in absolutely nothing so far?
That didn’t even make it into Today’s “in today’s news” lineup at the beginning of the show. But Prince Harry and Megan Markle did (evidently their post-marriage existence is far more important than brennan’s lies).
Consider this a heads-up for anyone who still wonders how far down the sewerpipe NBC “news” has flushed itself.
