What we have been told so far: 12 are dead…and the terrorist murderers who killed them for the “crime” of working at a magazine that spoofed the Islamic prophet Muhammad* are still on the loose.
Since details of events such as this tend to change minute by minute I will hold off blogging more about it until things become less frenetic and more clear.

*Point of order: Most media refer to “The Prophet Muhammad”. I resent that terminology, which implicitly suggests that there is no issue about Muhammad\’s status. I am not Islamic, and he is no prophet to me. Why should I be told, in what supposedly is a neutral news report, that he is?
But if they\’re going to do this, I insist that all references to Jesus Christ be prefaced with “Our Lord and Savior”. What\’s good for one is good for the other, right? (FYI – I am not Christian any more than I am Islamic).
Don\’t expect to hear that any time soon, though. Media are not terrified of offending Christians; actually, they seem to enjoy doing so very much.
