Scrambling Scrambling to address a growingSyrian refugee crisis, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced Sunday thatthe United States would significantly increase the number of worldwide refugeesit takes in over the next two years, though not by nearly the amount manyactivists and former officials have urged.
The U.S. will accept 85,000 refugees from around the worldnext year, up from 70,000, and that total would rise to 100,000 in 2017, Kerrysaid at news conference with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeierafter the two discussed the mass migrationof Syrians fleeing their civil war.
Many, though not all, of the additional refugees would beSyrian, American officials have said. Others would come from strife-to
rn areas of Africa. The White House had previously announcedit intended to takein 10,000 additional Syrian refugees over the next year.
Asked why the U.S. couldn\’t take more, Kerry citedpost-Sept. 11 screening requirements and a lack of money made available byCongress.
Point of order: Forgetting Iraq, which has a Muslim-against-Muslim national murder-a-thon of its own going on, Syria has borders with Turkey. And Lebanon. And Jordan. In addition, there are other Islamic Arab countries that would be far easier to get to, and which have far more congenial cultures to Syrians, than the United States or Europe.
So are these refugees fleeing Syria to get somewhere else where they can live in peace, or are these people who see an opportunity to go to countries where they can get plenty of government-supplied goodies…and which they may or may not have any intention of assimilating into (if you doubt me, look at the unassimilated Muslim enclaves throughout Europe right now – especially in France and Sweden).
In other words, is this a refugee scam, in which the people who, I do not doubt, desperately want to flee what is left of Syria, but instead of the nearby countries they most logically would go to, they are headed to where the most government-provided goods and services are available for the taking? That makes the term “refugee” very different, doesn\’t it?
Oh, one other thing: use the link I\’ve provided, read the entire article, and see if you can find so much as one word about President Obama\’s culpability in Syria getting to where it is right now. Remember those “red lines” assad “could not cross”? Well he crossed every last one of them – and Obama did exactly nothing…..just as assad, and the rest of the world, expected.
And just as khamenei, Iran\’s “supreme leader”, expects as well…as he and his pals rake in the $150 billion dollars or so of released sanction money while they continue to build their nuclear armaments anyway.
The sooner this man is out of the White House, the safer the world has a chance of being.
