THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from Poppy Harlow, of CNN.

She said the words you are about to read last Thursday.  But as someone who has difficulty taking CNN seriously these days, I did not know of them until I read today’s article by Alex Xenos of newsbusters.org.

Speaking of Jeff Sessions’ willingness to be interviewed by a New York Times reporters, Harlow actually – I mean, with a straight face – said this:

“I’ll just say, it’s good that he’s giving an interview to a, you know, down the middle, unbiased publication like The New York Times.”

The New York Times is down the middle and unbiased?  Is this the same New York Times I regularly ridicule for having nothing but Trump-hatred on its front page and in its editorial and op-ed pages?

I award Poppy Harlow Quote Of The Day “honors”, for making a comment so patently untrue that it would have made the old parody-pitchman, Joe Isuzu, blush with embarrassment.

I will end this blog in a lengthy, bu, I think, meaningful way, by reposting my complete blog of this past Sunday.  Please read it and see if you can find the “down the middle, unbiased publication” Ms. Harlow is talking about:

A quick summary of today’s New York Times Editorial and Op-Ed page:

Three editorials:

-One attacking President Trump for appointing a commission to investigate voter fraud (more on this in my next blog).

-One attacking President Trump’s efforts to retain/bring back manufacturing jobs,

-One attacking President Trump for his intention to build a wall between the USA and Mexico.

Letters to the editor:

-A heading of “Six months into his presidency, our inbox is flooded with criticism of Donald Trump.  Here is a sampling”, followed by a series of letters attacking President Trump for a variety reasons.  No neutral or positive letters.

Op-Ed page:

-Maureen Dowd’s withering attack on President Trump’s newly appointed Communications Director, Anthony Scaramucci – whom she disdainfully calls “Mooch” – on Sean Spicer, and probably on Trump’s underwear choices (I wouldn’t know, I stopped reading).

-Nicholas Kristof’s attac on President Trump’s son in law, Jared Kushner.

-And Ross Douthat’s commentary on the British baby Charlie Gard – the one and only part of these two pages not devoted to attacking Donald Trump.

How’d that get in there?

There you have it.  The New York Times’ idea of presenting   a range of views:  Do you dislike Trump, avidly dislike Trump or hate Trump?

Isn’t it great their readership is getting such a diversity of viewpoints?
