THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from Eliot Engel (D-NY) – the mail-it-in leftward liberal drone who occupies a completely safe congressional seat in New York\’s north Bronx and south Westchester (in 2012, it gave President Obama a 74% – 26% win over Mitt Romney).

Here is what Mr. Engel has to say about the select committee on Benghazi and how it might affect Hillary Clinton:

“Ithink the American public feels that Hillary Clinton did anoutstanding job as Secretary of State and if Republicans are usingBenghazi to blemish her record, I don’t think it will stick”

Outstanding job as Secretary of State?  That\’s what “the American public” feels?

Funny thing:  I live in a largely Democrat area.  Most of my friends and relatives are Democrats, including a large percentage who are every bit as hardline as Eliot Engel (they just don\’t have a safe congressional district to pontificate from).  And, so help me, I have never heard what a great job she did as Secretary of State from even one of them.

Here\’s the news, Rep. Engel:  the only way Benghazi can “blemish her record” is if her performance before, during and after that massacre is deserving of blemishes — which, your evaluation notwithstanding, it most definitely is.

I award Eliot Engel Quote Of The Day honors for reminding us of the drivel that can come from the mouth of a politician with absolutely nothing to lose.  It is good that we keep this top of mind…especially when the select committee begins its work.
