President Obama told us that ObamaCare would result in the average family saving $2,500 per year on insurance premiums.
Anyone who still believes this lie is probably too far gone to reach, even with hard data. But for the rest of us, we have this, as excerpted from Elise Viebeckâ¨and Pierre de Dreuzy\’s article at thehill.com:
Statesare nailing down dates to release 2015 premium costs under ObamaCare, and their decisions will guarantee a drumbeat of news about ratehikes all the way to the November midterm elections.
Democratsare bracing for grim headlines that could put the unpopular law backat the forefront of voters\’ minds.
Premiumsare expected to go up in a majority of states, as they do every year, but the size of the increases could go a long way toward determininghow much political damage ObamaCare inflicts on vulnerable Democraticlawmakers.
Asurvey by The Hill of state insurance commissioners found that newsabout ObamaCare premiums will hit nearly every week this summer (seelist below), providing ample opportunity for Republicans to attackany significant premium hikes.
FYI: the list referenced in this excerpt shows that, of the 34 states which have issued the dates premium rates will be announced, 22 of them will occur before election day.
But even if every one of the other 16 states holds off until after the election (which isn\’t going to happen), it means that, as the article says, there will be a “drumbeat of news about rate hikes” and “grim headlines” about the “unpopular law”.
Here\’s a question for you – actually, a question for Debbie Wasserman Schultz, even though she won\’t be answering it (I would be glad to post her response if I ever got one): Suppose Republicans do nothing other than remind the country of what Barack Obama told them about insurance premiums under ObamaCare – nothing but his own words….how do you think the actual premiums announced by each state will sit with voters?
See, President Obama lied to us about ObamaCare so that he could get it passed. But the lies – about keeping your coverage, keeping your doctor, and saving all that money in premium costs – are impossible to hide.
So unless you believe that, on average, the states are going to announce data showing a $2,500 per family savings for their insurance premiums, instead of an insurance hike….the facts alone – no political embellishment needed – are going to carry this debate. And, despite your oft-stated belief that Democrats should proudly be running on ObamaCare, that ain\’t gonna happen.
I can see it now: “Yeah, millions of people lost their insurance. Yeah, you probably can\’t continue with your current doctor. Yeah, you\’re not going to save any of the money we promised you would save. But vote for us anyway, because look at all the sign-ups we got”.
I\’ll bet that will carry just about every district in the country, Debbie. Will you be trying it?
