Today\’s quote comes to us from Governor Jay Nixon of Missouri.
Mr Nixon, in explaining why the National Guard troops – troops he himself had called up – were not deployed in Ferguson, on the night the grand jury handed down its decision regarding Officer Darren Wilson, told us:
“…what I\’m saying is the plan was that the law enforcement officers who would have been trained would be out on the front lines. You didn\’t want to have a Kent State situation.”
Brilliant.
Instead of Kent State, Governor Nixon gave Ferguson a combination of Dresden and Watts.
I award Jay Nixon Quote Of The Day honors for being as ridiculous now as he was then.
Congratulations, Governor; I\’m sure the business owners of Ferguson – and, I suspect, most of its citizens – are just, er, thrilled with your explanation.
