Today is the day that Louisiana lowers the boom on Mary Landrieu.
On election day, Ms. Landrieu got 43% of the vote versus 42% for her Republican opponent, Bill Cassidy – with 14% going to a second Republican, Rob Maness. This precipitated a runoff versus the top two candidates, Landrieu and Cassidy, with polls showing Cassidy – who is now supported by Maness – running away with it.
Then we have two house elections, in which Republicans Garret Graves and Ralph Abraham, both of whom split their votes with several other Republicans against weak Democrat challengers, will win landslide victories.
This will put Republicans at a 54-46 advantage in the Senate, and a 246 – 188 advantage in the house, with one recount pending (not to mention 31 out of 50 governorships and 69 out of 99 state legislatures).
Remember when the so-called pundits were telling us the Republican Party was dead?
That\’s a pretty lively corpse.
