Yesterday I talked about the resurrection (some might say exhumation) of John Podesta, James Carville and Lanny Davis, all older, all tireder and staler appearing, and all working hard to get Hillary Clinton into the White House.
Well, guess what: the king of them all – looking just as much older, tireder and staler as the others – has been trotted out.
That\’s right. Hubby Bubba, Hillary\’s last line of defense, has been trotted out.
And here is part of what he told CNN\’s Hillary-loving Fareed Zakaria, in an interview that was aired today:
“I have never seen so much expended on so little. She said she was sorry that her personalemail caused all this confusion and she\’d like to give the election back to theAmerican people. I think it will be all right. But it\’s obvious what happened.
“This is justsomething that has been a regular feature of all of our presidential campaigns, except in 2008 for unique reasons. Italways happens. We\’re seeing history repeat itself.”
That, friends, is Clinton-speak for “I may be older, but I still have it. And what I did for myself, how I got people to somehow convince themselves that every time I got away with something they won, I can do for Hillary too.
The problem, however, is that it doesn\’t work that way.
Bill Clinton was – and, I suspect, still is – the single greatest politician I ever saw in my life. But for himself, and no one else.
As skillful as he was throughout his political career, is as clumsy, inept and incapable as his wife is. He (no sexual innuendo intended here) does not rub off on her (ok, maybe a little, but this blog needs the laugh).
I award Hubby Bubba Quote Of The Day honors for a valiant – but, I suspect, futile – effort to rescue Hapless Hillary.
