Today\’s quote comes to us from Senator and presidential candidate Marco Rubio (R-FL), who has had his fill of the churlish, childish, schoolyard-recess quality insults being hurled at him by Donald Trump, the world\’s richest barrooom loudmouth.
In recent days, Trump has called Rubio, among other things, “a kid”, “sweaty”, and accused him of drinking a lot of water. That juvenile enough for you?
I\’m not making this stuff up, folks – I wish I was. But in case you don\’t believe it, here are the actual quotes:
“Marco Rubio, he\’s like akid”
“He sweats more than anyyoung person I\’ve ever seen in my life”
“I\’ve never seen a guy downwater like he downs water. I\’ve neverseen – they bring it in in buckets for this guy”
So did Senator Rubio answer in kind? Did he engage in “Am not” “Are too” “Am not” “Are too” – quality foolishness? Not at all. He is more mature than that. (So is the average 14 year old).
Instead, Mr. Rubio said this:
“He\’s very thin skinned, obviously,he\’s very sensitive to criticism, but he can\’t have a conversation aboutpolicy, because quite frankly he doesn\’t know anything about policy”
And this:
“He had a really bad debate performance last week, he\’s not well informed on the issues, he really never talks about issues and can\’t have more than a 10 second sound bite on any key issue. So I think he\’s really been exposed a little bit over the last seven days and he\’s a very touchy and insecure guy and so that\’s how he reacts. And people can see through it.”
That is spot-on correct, and therefore the reason Marco Rubio wins Quote Of The Day honors.
I don\’t know about you, but I\’m starting to lose count of how many people Manchild Donald has personally insulted since he decided to jump into this race. But name calling, insulting people\’s looks, and assuring us that “Don\’t worry, I\’ll do it better than anyone else” or “Don\’t worry, I\’ll hire the best people” or Don\’t worry, ___________” (fill in your own favorite Trump braggadocio) doesn\’t get a thing done. Not one thing.
I have criticized Ben Carson (another target of Trump\’s) in this blog because, though he is a brilliant man and a world-class pediatric neurosurgeon, politically he is a nonentity with no experience – exactly what we do not need in the White House.
Donald Trump may be a world class builder of casinos, luxury complexes and golf courses. But, politically, he is in exactly the same place as Carson. No experience. But a mouth that is about 10 times louder than Carson\’s with a vicious personal-insult streak that Carson, to his credit, will never match.
The sooner Trump goes away (which I remain 100% certain he will – while using some concocted, self-serving pretext which, he thinks, will make him look better than anyone else as he departs), the better off we all will be.
